FixIck is a revolutionary new way to treat aquatic external parasites. FixIck does not contain formaldehyde, a common active in many ich treatments. Formaldehyde treatments cause damage to gills and internal organs, which can result in additional stress and fish loss. FixIck additionally has antibacterial and anti-fungal properties, preventing some secondary infections with no additional medications, resulting in even higher recovery rates.
Active Ingredient: Gentian violet
Indications
Use Fixick for outbreaks of aquatic parasites including including Ick, Chilodonella, Trichodina and Tetrahymena. FixIck is not recommended in systems with fresh or saltwater invertebrates, or coral.
- Ich
- Chilodonella
- Trichodina
- Tetrahymena
Consult a veterinarian or fish expert for assistance in diagnosis of disease-causing organisms and treatment options.
All suspected parasitic infections should be treated immediately.
Preparations
- Use of a hospital tank is recommended or remove incompatible species before treating.
- Remove all chemical filtration (carbon, ion exchange resins, etc) and stop use of skimmer and UV sterilizer (if present) during treatment.
- Maintain aeration and water flow.
- Slowly adjust temperature to 82 – 85°F if tolerated by your fish. This accelerates the life cycle of the parasites and ensures maximum exposure to the treatment.
Directions
Shake well before each dose.
Day 1: 5 mL (1 tsp) per 10 U.S. gallons (38 L).
Day 2: Repeat dose
Day 3: No dose, perform a 25% to 30% water change
Day 4: Repeat dose
Day 5: Repeat dose
Day 6: No dose, perform a 25% to 30% water change
If necessary, perform a second six-day course of treatment.
If no further symptoms are observed, replace chemical filtration and resume use of protein skimmers as well as normal feeding. Adjust temperature back to normal.
